My name is Lorita Casanova, and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Merced, California, and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach I have a person-centered approach to therapy, which varies based on the needs of each client I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure Therapy, as the behavioral modalities enable me and the client to establish rapport and build a healthy therapeutic alliance, which allows us to join together and develop a treatment plan to reach targeted goals. My focus I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for 18 and older adults who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and social pressures. I provided evidence-based therapy with interventions to build healthy coping skills and empower clients to regulate emotions, build distress tolerance, use mindfulness, and develop interpersonal effectiveness. My communication style I take time to build rapport and establish rapport with clients. I meet my clients where they are and take time to understand their expectations from therapy and educate them on the therapy process. I am an assertive communicator who demonstrates calm, supportive, and open communication. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to actively listen non-judgmentally.
